The course examines the fundamental relationships between the countries in the Third World and the developed ones as shaped by various processes ranging from the governance relationships from the pre-colonial era up to present. In particular, the course examines the effects of colonialism, imperialism, neo-colonialism and the globalization phenomenon on the Third World's governance structures and development.
