Rationale of the Programme
Maternal and neonatal
health is an important indicator of development globally. According to WHO
(2014), developing countries account for 99% of the global burden for maternal
deaths. Of these, sub-Saharan Africa accounts for 66%. Maternal mortality ratio
is 14 higher than that of developed countries revealing great disparities in
equitability of healthcare resources.
The programme shall be called Master of Science in Nursing (Maternal and Neonatal Health).
